In a show of appreciation for his outstanding contributions to the medical field, marked by proactive leadership in professional organizations, unwavering dedication to patient care, promotion of healthy communities, and a thriving medical practice, the Patient Care Foundation is delighted to announce the presentation of the 2023 Independent Physician Leadership Award to Dr. William D. King.
Dr. William D. King, a compassionate primary care physician, has been recognized for his unwavering commitment to his patients at his practice in Baldwin Hills, Los Angeles, California. Hailing from Los Angeles, Dr. King opened his inaugural private practice just minutes away from his childhood home. He holds a degree in Cellular/Molecular Biology from California State University at Northridge and possesses dual degrees in medicine and law from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Dr. King furthered his education by completing an internal medicine residency at Harvard Medical School's Cambridge Hospital, where he assumed the role of Chief Resident. Returning to Los Angeles, he pursued two fellowships at the University of California at Los Angeles. Dr. King boasts board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine and has earned distinction as an HIV specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine.
His significant contributions in the field of HIV/AIDS have garnered national and international acclaim. Dr. King's accomplishments encompass a plethora of lectures, the publication of numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters, as well as clinical trial investigations. His leadership, volunteer efforts, and community support have earned him several prestigious awards.
Dr. King's impactful work and lectures have not only resonated nationally but have also made a mark on the global stage, with recognition spanning countries such as South Africa, Uganda, and Ghana.
He has also been involved with the Los Angeles County Medical Association for a number of years and has served on the Board of Directors as well as the Health Equity Council.
